5-Bullet Friday - October 9, 2015

Here is your next amazing edition of 5-Bullet Friday! Are you enjoying these little weekly emails? Let me know on Facebook or Twitter.
  • FOR YOUR JEEP:  Okay, time to talk about my own products this week... have you seen the new Tie Rod? Gotta say, I like it. Dog legged rod ends, anti-flop features, and they work with stock wheels and stock backspacing.

  • FOR A GOOD READ:  Just picked up Glenn Beck's Agenda 21: Into the Shadows, the sequel to his hit best seller, Agenda 21, which I finished a couple months ago. It is a hard hitting view of a future that is the result of people forgetting what makes this country great, forgetting what it means to stand up and fight for our rights as Americans.
  • FOR YOUR COFFEE:  So, the other day, on my way out of town for Off Road Expo, I picked up this 20oz Stainless Steel Travel Mug... the amazing part is I put coffee it it at 8:30 and it was STILL HOT at 1:30. Not bad for something you can pick up for $9 at WalMart.

  • FOR A QUICK HIKE:  My friend Scott Becker found this great Ultralight Backpack at WalMart for only $13! I used it on my ascension of Mt Whitney and for the price, it is a great option for a grab & go bag.

  • FOR YOUR TUMMY:  Bacon. It goes good with everything, right? I just inhaled a bag of Trader Joe's Baconesque White Cheddar Popcorn. Did I say inhaled. Yeah. Time for bag two.
Thank you for being a part of 5-Bullet Fridays! Let me know which bullet was your favorite or if you have anything you'd like me to check out. If you missed previous 5-Bullet Friday's, you can catch up here.

5-Bullet Friday - October 2, 2015

Here is your next edition of 5-Bullet Friday - some cool stuff this week - be the first to share it with your friends.
  • FOR YOUR HOME:  I recently tossed the Samsung Blu-Ray Player with built in Surround Sound cuz it didn't work with my other devices - and replaced it with a cheaper basic Samsung Blu-Ray Player and a full-spectrum 330W Sound Bar by Sony... while not having the surround sound, the Sony Sound Bar is (1) a HDMI hub that all my devices can go through and (2) has AWESOME sound.

  • FOR YOUR BUCKET LIST:  Can you believe this? I'm not sure I will ever be able to do it, but, damn, it looks like fun. Just the height of it would freak most people out... then to have to step off. Yeah, that would be life-changing.

  • FOR THE GO-BAG:  Bought this 20 degree sleeping bag by Teton a couple months ago and tested it for the first time at Cantina-for-the-Con. At only 2.9 lbs it is comparable in weight to bags that cost 3 times as much. Overall I was incredibly happy with the warmth, though the size was a little restrictive for a man with my girth. ;-)

  • FOR THE NEW JEEPER:  Did you ever get a copy of Metalcloak's 101 Off-Roading Tips? Well get ready for the updated edition... Metalcloak 102 Off-Roading Tips! (clever title, huh?) The New & Revised edition will be available on multiple formats October 9! Register today to get your free eBook!

Off-Road Expo, New Products & Sexy Pic of the Week

Greetings!

Busy week around here! The team has been focused on the upcoming Off-Road Expo in Pomona this weekend.

Which usually means being focused on tricking out the Jeeps and finishing up new products for introduction at the show.

If you can make it out this year, you will see me doing something a little different... we are calling it the ModernJeeping Podcast... stay tuned.
Cheers!

Matson

More About The JK Tie Rod...
Last week I showed the Game-Changing JK Steering Upgrade Kit that included out new JK Wrangler Tie Rod.

I wanted to share a little more here about the dog-leg joints... truly a unique feature. As the graphic shows, the joints are specifically designed to move left to right for steering effectiveness, but not move front to back. This prevents the Tie-Rod from "flopping".

Oh yeah, and they fit on stock wheels too!

TJ Wrangler Long Travel, Short Arm kit - now with Fox Shocks!

Based on the popularity of our JK Suspension Kits, you love Fox Shocks, almost as much as you love Metalcloak, so we now have the 3.5" Long Travel, Short Arm Kit, available a Fox Shock option.

I run that set up on my personal TJ and so far have enjoyed the ride. They handle better in the corners then the OME, which for a driver like me, is a good thing.

Metalcloak Signs On as Presenting Sponsor for the Nitto Ultra-4 Championships!

Last year we visited the Wild West Motorsports Park to check out the Ultra-4 Championships... and were BLOWN away! The course was exciting, the attendees were many, and fun was easily had by all.

So this year we decided to step up and become the Presenting Sponsor. If you are anywhere West of the Mississippi, you should come check it out. If you can't make it, there will be some great online coverage.

Stay tuned!
PIC OF THE WEEK...
Congratulations to Jeremiah Tompkins owner of Because Stock Sucks in Coarsegold, California for this week's Pic of the Week.

**NEW** JK Wrangler HD Tie Rod - Fits Stock Wheels!

At Metalcloak we are continuously looking at all our products and discovering ways we can improve them - sometimes the improvements are small... a fitment here, a nudge there... but sometimes they are momentous... Our JK Wrangler Tie Rod is one such case.

After discovering weaknesses in our first design, we corrected the problems and created a much better product. But we were not totally satisfied. We asked ourselves the question... what more could we do? Introducing the Game-Changing HD JK Wrangler Tie Rod...

But what is different? Everything.

First the material... after extensive testing of different materials, we focused on building our Tie Rod out of 1 3/8" DOM (3/8" Wall). This proved to have the greatest resistance to bending and the best return to form when impacting a solid object.

Next, the rod ends... Typical 1-Ton Rod Ends are easy to source, but the challenge the presented was limiting what size wheels or what backspacing you had to have to run them. Our specially designed and manufactured "Dog-Legged" 1-Ton Rod Ends are offset so they fit on Stock Wheels!

In addition, besides the sealed boot, and the JK-Specific bolt taper, there is a special Anti-Flop feature that limits front to back motion...

Together these elements create another Game-Changing product from Metalcloak that we hope meets your needs and exceeds your expectations.

You can learn more at Metalcloak.com

This product is also part of our new full steering kit featuring an updated Drag Link and the OME Steering Stabilizer.

5-Bullet Friday, September 25, 2015

Here is your next edition of 5-Bullet Friday - I hope you enjoy this list of things that I find interesting enough to share with friends like you. If you like them you can share it with your friends.
  • FOR YOUR JEEP: JK Owners rejoice! As I mentioned before, the goal here is not to advocate our products, but to help you discover cool and great products no matter who makes them... but, sometimes I just have to share. This New Jeep JK Wrangler Tie-Rod that we just released has a number of firsts... the dog-legged ends allows it to work with stock wheels, and the unique anti-flop features are a first for JK Owners! A truly great product.
  • FOR A RELAXING VACATION: The family and I just had a wonderful vacation right on the Oregon Coast in Lincoln City. What a gem! And being just south of Tillamook, not only can you go visit the Cheese factory, but there are some amazing OHV trails too. We rented a cottage right along the beach via the website Airbnb - great service, great prices.
  • FOR GIVING BACK: If you are like me and do a lot of shopping with Amazon, have you tried Smile.Amazon.com? It is exactly the same site with one exception... you choose a non-profit organization and every time you purchase on Amazon, a donation is made to that non-profit. It is super easy! You just have to remember to log in to Smile.Amazon.com every time you make a purchase. You are shopping there anyway, you might as well let it benefit a cause you care about.

  • FOR EXERCISING ON THE ROAD:  This year has been full of travel for me, and while sometimes I get a hotel with a nice gym... there are those times when I am just booking the cheapest accommodations I can find. In those cases, when I still want to get a work out, I use these backpacking Dry Bags. They are designed to keep water out... but can also keep water in! Just fill them up and use them as kettle bells or individual dumb bells.

  • FOR A GOOD READ:  Just finished a biography of Elon Musk, by Ashlee Vance. While the study of the man is interesting, the details about Tesla and SpaceX, just two of the companies he is involved in, are amazing and inspiring. It is definitely a study of persistence through seemingly never-ending failure.
