SEMA, JK Clearance Diagrams, & Pic (Flop) of the Week!

Hello Rock-Biting Jeepers!

Sometimes I get all the fun. Sometimes, like this week, I am the one that stays home while the rest of the team is out enjoying SEMA. Its not so bad really. Lots of orders coming in yet it is strangely quiet without the constant interruption from our engineers coming up with more and more great new ideas!

Not that I'm complaining... far from it! How often does a company announce no less then 25 new products over a given month including our JK Suspension components, JK Rear Bumper, & TJ Gas Tank Skid?

Metalcloak has always meant innovation and our engineers have not dissappointed. Who knows what other great new ideas they will come up with after seeing all the hot new products at SEMA.
Metalcloak doesn't put up a booth as SEMA for several reasons, but we like to have our products shown off, so check out our Facebook page at Facebook.com/metalcloak to see some of the Cloaked rigs this year.

JK Clearance Diagrams

For those in the know, back in 2009 we were challenged to prove our claims that Metalcloak's fenders for TJ & LJ had the greatest bolt on clearance of any tube fender in the market - essentially providing Hi-Line clearance without having to mangle your hood... the result was the now famous Metalcloak Clearance Diagrams: Metalcloak vs. Others -- a thread started on Jeepforum.com

Recently we were challenged again to back up our claims for the JK. And we delivered. The following are the clearance diagrams for the Overline Tube Fenders on the Jeep Wrangler JK, showing that, once again, we provide the best bolt-on clearance in the industry. Clearance that allows you to run 37" tires on a stock JK with Metalcloak fenders.

Questions and feedback about these diagrams which are also posted on several forums including Jeepforum & JKOwners, are welcome and can be emailed to matson (at) metalcloak.com

FLOP OF THE WEEK...
Occassionally we like to strut our stuff by showing off the unfortunate accidents of others... and how well the Metalcloak fenders and body armor stood up to the test... you can see the full spread of pics and how the Jeep turned out on Jeepforum.com

How to Adapt Generic Rockers to Metalcloak Fenders

For many Jeep owners, one of the first pieces of body armor you put on your rig was a Rocker Protection. Protecting that most vulnerable of body parts, the rocker panels, is definitely a high priority.

And like some, you may have purchased yours before you learned about Metalcloak or had any idea that Metalcloak fenders would be on your build plan.

But now you want Metalcloak fenders, and your generic rocker doesn't fit any more.

No problem.

We understand this and while we would love for you to buy our Rocker Rails, there is another solution.

All it takes to make any other manufacturer's rocker fit with the Metalcloak fenders, is some small modifications to the front (generally speaking the rear of the rocker should line up fine, no matter what brand you have, IF they are designed to line up with the stock flare - if they go all the way to the wheel well, call us.)

Here is how to do it...

Step 1 - Download this file:  Metalcloak Rocker Template - this is a PDF File and template to see where you need to cut.

Step 2 - Print the PDF on your printer at full size (do not let it reduce the printing size to "fit on paper"

Step 3 - Line up the PDF with the front of your rockers. You can do the next step by sight or you can use scissors to cut out the diagram of the rocker.

Step 4 - Using a sharpie mark the line you need to cut.

Step 5 - Using a grinder, Sawzall, or anything to cut steel, cut out the rockers, following your lines.

Step 6 - Clean it up and cover any exposed metal with paint.

There you have it. Now your rocker protection should fit with the Metalcloak fender system.

If you have any questions email info (at) metalcloak.com or call 916-631-8071.

Off Road Expo, New TJ Gas Tank Skid and the Pic of the Week

Hello Rock-Biting Jeepers!
As I'm writing this, the team is packing up all our new products, display materials, and all the stuff we need for this weekend's Lucas Oil Off Road Expo. As I mentioned last week, we have a long list of products to introduce so we hope that if you are anywhere near the SoCal area this weekend, you will stop on by and check out the expo.
I will try to post some of the products on the Forums as well, but if the Expo was anything like last year, I will barely have a chance to eat, there were so many people at our booth checking out all the new products.
This week, I want to share our new Gas Tank Skid Plate. We hope you like it!

Ditomic (Aluminum+Steel) Gas Tank Skid Plate, TJ/LJ
Every once in a while, our engineers come up with a little gem of an idea (as opposed to the huge, innovative ideas they've had lately) and this one is no exception.
The idea was this... since Steel gas tank skids are incredibly rugged, but way heavy and Aluminum skids are incredibly light but still, well, Aluminum, could we not follow our Ditomic line of Aluminum+Steel body armor and create a Gas Tank Skid?
Yes, we did.
Introducing the Ditomic (Aluminum+Steel) Gas Tank Skid Plate for the TJ & TJ Unlimited...
Header
Complete with the all-important (but sometimes overlooked) tank dimple, this easy to assemble and easy to install skid cuts the weight of your typical steel skid almost in half.
Regularly priced at $359, for a limited time you can get the Metalcloak Ditomic Gas Tank Skid Plate for only $299.

JK Bumper Sales Ends Friday, NEW Selectable Bump Stops, Off Road Expo, & Pic of the Week

Hello Rock-Biting Jeepers!

JUST A QUICK REMINDER!
The JK Frame-Built Bumper Sale ENDS FRIDAY!
CLICK HERE TO BUILD YOUR OWN!

As you can no doubt tell, having seen recent posts on our Facebook page, we are all excited about the upcoming Lucas Oil Off Road Expo. Organized by Family Events, the Off Road Expo is one of the premier events on the West Coast featuring virtually every major player in the Off Road Industry. If you have even an small desire to build your rig, this is the place to be.

For Metalcloak, we've used, and continue to use, Off Road Expo as the best event to launch our new products. In 2009 we launched the Frame-Built Bumpers and the surprise of the event, the Overline Tube Fenders. In 2010 it was the JK Body Armor, and this year the list is almost too long to type... but I'll try. See my list below.

JK SELECTABLE BUMP STOPS...

Among the list of products above are the incredibly new JK Selectable Bump Stops. Like most of our products, every innovation starts with asking "Why Not?" And that was the case with the Bump Stops. We asked, "Why do customers have to know what bump stop they need when the place an order?" Followed by... "Why not give them a bump stop where they can select the height they need AFTER putting the suspension on?"

And the result was the Selectable Bump Stop. An incredibly simple system that uses three 1" Pucks, stacked and topped with a Gold Zinc plated steel disc.

An added benefit of this design? You don't have to remove your coils to install your bump-stop.

Each kit comes with 3 different sets of tapered head bolts for proper sizing and with three sets of pucks. You can get additional pucks if needed.
